I'm in Shimonoseki!

I made it to Shimonoseki last night. After almost a 2 hour train ride, my assistant manager Miyo and head kids teacher Yasuyou met me at the station. We loaded up Miyo's tiny car and drove from Kyushu to Honshu through the under water tunnel! :) We arrived in Shimonoseki after about 20 minutes and went to the school to meet some teachers! Everyone was so excited to meet me, they had been waiting for me forever! David is the other American English teacher, from Colorado. Rhett is an American from St. Louis and is the Emergency teacher I am replacing. After some introductions we went out for food and drinks. We visited Yasuyo's friend's friend's bar. It was a pretty little place but the owner/bartender loves karaoke! His favorite number is "Piano Man" by Billy Joel. Of course we got a performance when we came and when we left! WHoo hoo! He can't even pronounce all the words so it was pretty funny, but he's pretty good still! I also saw my first Japanese hooker. Nothing like those in America. They are pretty well dressed and are more of an escort. The men just pay for the attention, not sex. I then stayed in a Japanese hotel b/c my apartment wasn't ready yet. After checkout at 12:30 i visited Starbucks and went to work! Whoo hoo! I'm finally here!
